ATC Cards

The photo shows my first attempt at creating ATC cards. It was very easy and not too stressful. The cards were quick and, I think, the cards are better than business cards. They are much prettier in person.

Yesterday, I posted a “Wanted” ad on our private work website. I specially asked for a typewriter that works and preferably free, but I would be willing to pay. Also, the ad mentioned I would be using it for scrapbooking. Within five minutes I received a phone call and Mr. J. Rice gave me a typewriter …that works and he did not charge me.

Today, everything worked out perfectly. He was in a training class at the same time I was in the same building taking photos of a conference room touch panel our team installed. I met with Mr. Rice, talked a little bit, and obtained my new typewriter. He collects them and said he needed to clean out his collection, so he would not charge me. He was glad to give it to someone that would use the typewriter. He’s also going to give me an IBM Selectric II, which is my absolute favorite typewriter.

I will be using the typewriter for Project Life. Sometimes, we just need to ask for what we need.

I have so many pens and markers that I needed an easy way to store them. I used plastic bins and sorted the pens/markers by color. This has been an easy and efficient way to store my pens/markers.

Jewelry Box and Doll

Posted: November 16, 2010 in Crafting, Family, Hobbies, Uncategorized

The summer of 2005 my Dad was in the hospital.  While I was there visiting him, my Aunt Ruby gave me a jewelry box and a doll (Tiny Tubber Effanbee).  There is a reason she gave these gifts to me.

A very long time ago on a hot summer day and my Grandma was sitting in her chair and I was standing beside her looking at all of her beading stuff, that is when either I spied a small jewelry box or she pointed it out to me.   I was about 12 years old and my Grandma, Mary Bell Maddox-Johnson, put a note in that little jewelry box that belonged to her.  The note had my name on it and it was to be given to me in the future.  The box had a few items that had been given to her from special people in her life.  As it turned out I never received that box.

There are more photos located on Shutterfly, Jewelry Box from my Aunt Ruby.

I wanted a way to store my greeting cards.  Here’s my book I created using a Bind-it-All.

The grunge class was great.  We had some new people show up and a few regulars that did not make it.

Tonight I learned about using a brayer.  Beth and Delores were wonderful teachers once again.  We made one card, a card front, two pages to use as layouts or cards.  We used embossing powder, inks, and versa mark.  I had not tried any of the techniques used and I was very glad to try them out.  One technique was to put rubberbands around the brayer.

My shelf came undone, which creates a great opportunity to clean up my room and make some changes.  Tonight I cleared out my room and I am going to remove the shelf and repair the wall.   I’ll save the shelves for use somewhere else.

All of this will be accomplished with the help of my hubby, between his episodes of migraine headaches.  He has had a horrible headache that comes and goes for the last nine days.  I guess this is something that will never go away until he is under less stress.

A bit later I’ll post the before/after pictures.

Today I went to Once Upon a Scrapbook.   I always enjoy this store, well not really so much the store but the interaction with Delores the owner, and other customers (who have become my friends).  There were not many people there today, but that was ok with me because I spent some time getting to know Delores.  She is such an incredible lady.

I bought a lot of samples, paper, acrylic pages, pens, and Smooch (green and red).  I can’t wait to use the Smooch.

Beth Thomas – teacher at Once Upon a Scrapbook.  We used Adirondak Dabbers and Distress Crackle paint. in our class.

Used Stazon Ink and the dabbers for this Thank You card.

This Bee’s Knees card was made with a cuddlebug die and the distress paint.
