Scanning Old Negatives – Used Silhouette to create a carrier

General how to information (not comprehensive).

 

I scanned a drawing I created of the small windows in the negative.

I created a *.jpg file.

Next, I pulled the *.jpg file into the Silhouette.

Made several cuts, because I had to adjust the size and location of the rectangles.

Next I put the final product into a photo holder.

Next I inserted the negative between the black paper negative carrier and the clear photo holder.

Next I put it on the Epson Perfection 3200 Photo scanner.

 

…and it worked.

 

This is sort of what the negative carrier looks like.  I used black paper (not white or clear).

 The picture is scanned at 600 dpi and no touch ups via software.
